Whipping vigorously in turbulent spring winds like anchored white dragons attempting to take flight, a quintet of plastic bag and steel pole sculptures displayed on the lawn adjacent the Visual Arts building (Art Barn) at the University of Texas at Dallas is the work of London-based artist Claudia Borgna.

The sculptures, dense chains of white plastic bags cascading from atop ten-feet-tall steel poles, were assembled on site by the artist with help from students and staff.

Art professor Greg Metz said Borgna’s sculptures are premier pieces for ‘Botany of Desire,’ an exhibit he is curating in the Art Barn from March 25-April 23.
